Theobroma cacao, native to the tropical forests of Central America and Amazonia, is a small evergreen tree whose seeds, or cocoa beans, have survived the passing of centuries and civilisations. Its botanical name, meaning ‘food of the gods’, was coined by the 18th-century naturalist Linnaeus in recognition of the sacred significance of cocoa among the Mesoamericans.
For the Maya and Aztecs, cocoa was much more than just food; it was also used in religious rituals, wedding ceremonies, and medicinal practices. Its beans even served as currency. Cultivated in royal gardens and prepared as a bitter, spicy beverage, cocoa symbolised fertility, strength, and a connection with the divine. It is a mythical plant whose cultural and biological richness spans the ages.

New ReGeneration Cocoa uses cocoa plant cells grown under controlled conditions to target the key biological mechanisms involved in skin regeneration.
Firstly, it stimulates the synthesis of collagen, glycosaminoglycans, proteoglycans and anchoring proteins, such as laminin and integrin, which are essential for dermal-epidermal cohesion, by acting on the extracellular matrix. At the same time, it helps to regulate MMP3, an enzyme that breaks down this matrix, thereby improving structural balance.
Additionally, the active ingredient boosts cell renewal by increasing KI-67 expression, a marker of basal cell proliferation in the epidermis.
This comprehensive approach reinforces the skin’s structure, improves its density and supports its natural vitality over time.
