The pomegranate tree, native to the Middle East and Asia, has been valued for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. Its fruit, seeds, bark and flowers have long been appreciated for their beneficial effects on health. Spread by Arab nomads, it reached China in the 2nd century BCE, then Rome, and later the Iberian Peninsula, where the city of Granada takes its name from the fruit.
Thanks to its deep root system and drought tolerance, the pomegranate can draw water from deep within the soil and optimise its metabolism to withstand extreme conditions. This biological resilience is reflected in a high concentration of protective compounds, such as polyphenols and tannins, which play a key role in the plant’s defence against environmental stress. Inspired by the Latin Aethel (noble) and Elis (elixir), Aethelis Granata draws on this heritage to offer a concentrate of biotechnological excellence for the skin.
